Legal Division

The General Assembly has charged SCDCA with advising the Legislature and Governor on consumer issues and state of credit in this State.  The Department is the administrator and enforcer of the law governing consumer credit transactions and also has responsibility over approximately fifteen industries. The investigative and legal enforcement activities of the Department are assigned to the Legal Division. The Division also provides consumer law guidance to the financial industry, magistrates, attorneys, and law enforcement agencies, just to name a few.

Advocacy Division

The Advocacy Division represents consumer interests before state and federal regulatory agencies which fix rates or prices for consumer products or services.  We also represent the consumer interest in certain insurance and certificate of need matters.
