Dollar Amount Adjustment

Pursuant to Section 37-1-109, designated dollar amounts in the Consumer Protection Code are subject to change on July 1 of every even-numbered year based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI). The Administrator is required to announce the dollar amounts by publication in the State Register no later than April 30 of each even-numbered year. Beginning with the publication of dollar amounts in April 2020, the calculation is based on the aggregate change from the CPI of December 1976 to the CPI of the December immediately preceding the calculation.

In accordance with Section 37-1-109(5), creditors may rely on the published dollar amounts in effect at the time a contract is entered into and should not alter existing contracts to conform with newly published dollar amounts. For more details, refer to Section 37-1-109 and review the notices previously published by the Administrator.
