SCDCA Celebrates National Consumer Protection Week with Free Shred Days

Mon, 02/26/2018

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) is celebrating National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) from March 5 - 9 with a series of statewide shred days.

SCDCA will partner with Shred360 to offer the following events:

  • Monday, March 5, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Dutch Square Mall, 421 Bush River Road, Columbia
  • Tuesday, March 6, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Timmons Arena, 3300 Poinsett Highway, Greenville (Furman University)
  • Wednesday, March 7, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. North Charleston Coliseum, 5001 Coliseum Drive, North Charleston

Consumers should not bring more than five (5) file boxes to shred. Once in line, consumers should not park or exit their vehicles. This will help the line move more quickly.

This outreach serves as a reminder to consumers to safeguard their personal identifying information. Consumers who believe they are the victim of a security breach, scam or identity theft are encouraged to seek tailored guidance from SCDCA's Identity Theft Unit. Call 844-TELL DCA (835-5322) or fill out an ID Theft Intake form by clicking on Report Identity Theft (PDF).
